Character Information

Name: Inigo
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: After Paralogue 6: A Man for Flowers. (As a side note, in Fire Emblem: Awakening it's possible to marry different characters off to each other, which in turn influences the kids' hair color, skills and sometimes even relationships between the kids (like being siblings). I'm choosing to play Inigo as Chrom and Olivia's son.)
OU/AU/CRAU/OC: OU
Age: He has no official canonical age, but seems to be about 17.

World Information: here.

Personal History: here.

Personality: The most apparent thing about Inigo that anyone would notice in a matter of mere moments is that Inigo loves girls. Really, really badly. He's shown to be flirting with girls all the time in game and all his supports with girls (except for his sister, if he has one in the playthrough) are based on him flirting with girls. Heck, even his supports with male characters tend to center around it. Even the very first time we see Inigo in the game he's already flirting with a girl and telling her he'll take out some bandits to help her out (and he's clearly hoping for a reward that isn't necessarily money). He never seems to be lucky in any of his endeavours with girls though and gets rejected and slapped all the time. Even so, Inigo seems to be unable to take no for an answer, both when it comes to girls and to other things. Even when a girl clearly shows no interest in him and rejects him, he still tries to flirt with her again and again (this is especially apparent in his supports with Kjelle and Severa). He also harasses Gerome over his mask and despite the guy obviously not wanting to take it off, Inigo just grabs it and takes it. He can be fairly obnoxious in this regard and can also come across as extremely self-centered and even childish. This also shows in the way he can be slightly unpolished sometimes, like how he uses the sword that's the heritage of the royal family to cut an apple or when he says the best part about wielding that sword would be that girls would probably be into it. Often it seems like he has a complete one track mind that only seems to think of women and how to score with them. Inigo also acts overconfident most of the time, especially when it comes to trying to impress girls. When a girl suggests he might be killed by a group of bandits he completely waves off the idea with a smile and says: "Don't be silly. I'd never let anyone ruin this perfect face."

Inigo is not nearly as cool as he'd like to make himself seem though. He's a pretty emotional kind of guy and it definitely shows, he completely sucks at holding back his emotions. When Inigo feels something, it seems to show immediately, like how he's easily startled and will scream when he's approached out of nowhere or when Gerome's wyvern seems to get mad at him ("K-Keep her away from me! I'm too young to be mauled!") and how he easily gets worked up and will start getting grumpy and pouty over someone at the slightest thing (he calls Gerome stupid just since the guy watched him dance in secret and often gets mad or sarcastic at another guy when they score more easily with girls than him). He also cries easily - he says he's a mess for days after girls turn him down and in his supports with Gerome he actually starts crying since he says he tries to hard to get girls and then Gerome comes along and all he does is being mysterious with a mask and gets all the girls without effort while Inigo keeps getting rejected. Often he will try to cover up his emotions with his womanizer front when he wants to seem cool, but he isn't particularly good at it. He can't convincingly tell a lie or cover anything up - Brady notes this at one point when he tells Inigo: "If you'd be anymore transparent, you'd be invisible." He just seems to be the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. This stems mostly from the fact that despite the way Inigo acts, he's actually shy under it. The reason he even flirts with girls so much is since he was really shy as a kid and his mother told him he'd get over his shyness by talking to a lot of girls.. which he ended up taking too far and making him into the Inigo we see flirting with girls all over the place. Even now sometimes his shyness is shown though, like when he talks to his mother for the first time in the game and starts blushing because she shouldn't "look at me so intently, it makes me bashful". After that the conversation practically boils down to an out-shying competition with his mother where he literally tells her he's shyer than her and she says she's shyer while they both blush.. even Chrom can't take the secondhand embarassment from seeing it. Inigo is also really shy when it comes to his true dream, which is being a dancer like his mother. But people don't really like male dancers so it's a pretty embarassing dream and he only dares to practice dancing at night when he sneaks out of the camp to do it. He sometimes even spaces out in the middle of battle and imagines himself dancing. He's really self-conscious about his dream though and whenever someone confronts him about it, he just completely freaks out.

It has to be said though that while Inigo seems that simple, some of his support conversations reveal there's a lot more to him. Most of his overconfidence is just a farce, it's him overcompensating since he's actually pretty insecure (which is probably tied to his underlying shyness). He can't help but compare himself to others all the time, especially when he's part of the royal family when Chrom is his father and Lucina his sister. He can also sometimes get serious instead of his acting like a loser in his supports and think about his duty, but it's clear that he just prefers not thinking and acting that way. At one point in his support with Lucina he doesn't really want to get serious about wielding the Falchion (the royal sword) since it means practicing for when she'd die and he would have to use the sword instead. Inigo is the type who doesn't want to think about bad possibilities or about the people he cares about dying (again) and instead have fun in the present, even if it (as he acknowledges it himself) might be cowardice. And that doesn't just apply to himself, it stretches to all the people around him as well. Often he's seen telling people to smile - he's optimistic and wants people to forget about the war for a moment and be able to have fun too. As a kid he made a promise with Brady to use whatever talents they had (dancing and violin playing, respectively) to make other people's lives easier. His attitude seems a little strange though considering his background: he comes from a grim future that consisted of mainly just running and fighting and where his parents died. His parents in the original timeline wonder about this too and question him about it, like in his support with Chrom ("For someone who came from an apocalyptic hellscape, you're awfully carefree. Seems like you haven't a care in the world past whose bed you'll be sharing tonight.") or whatever father he might have in a playthrough. But the reason he keeps smiling and joking around and flirting with girls and generally just having fun and making other people have fun is exactly because he comes from that sort of place. He never was allowed to show weakness in the future, so he can't show it now either. People were depending on him to be strong, so he had to be strong and pretend he was fine all the time even when he wasn't. He hides his weakness through acting like some carefree idiot (although part, if not most, of it just really is his personality beyond the hardship) even when he feels pain.

"You may think me a dandy and a fool, but a lot of people depended on me in the future. Every day, I was out there fighting Risen and risking my life. With everyone looking to me to be strong, I had no choice. I HAD to be invincible. I couldn't complain or show any weakness. Not with everyone else struggling in that damn war-torn wasteland... Even with you and Mother gone, I had to pretend I was fine. That I wasn't hurting. I had to fight every day of my sorry life and wear a smile while I did it! ...You said I looked like I didn't have a care in the world? Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but that's not the case at all. I smile and joke around because I don't want to show the world any weakness... If that disappoints you...then I guess you just have to be disappointed."

It's also then mostly in battle that Inigo's serious side shows more and the strength he has in enduring his own pain and not showing it to others, that he can be strong for their sake. Despite the way he might act outside of battle, he's not a selfish person in the end and is willing to do anything for the people he cares about. He's even willing to sacrifce his own life for the sake of his friends' since he just doesn't want to let alone die or leave anyone behind. This mostly shows in The Future Past 2, where he doesn't want to let Owain hold off the Risen by himself so their friends can escape, so despite the fact that Inigo could have run away, he instead stays with Owain and fights by his side, fully knowing it might mean his own death. It also shows that Inigo isn't a coward when it comes down to it, he never hesitates on heading into battle.

Outside of battle we see that Inigo is much less serious and more of his idiot self once more though as if all of his courage is forgotten, since the moment a single bug approaches him he starts running around and yelling like it's the end of the world and he doesn't have a single problem with hiding behind "Luce" (his nickname for his older sister Lucina) while he makes her squish a bug for him.

Key themes: Inigo's story is very much about personal growth and self-actualization. He's a shy kid and younger spoiled sibling thrown into an awful situation he totally was not ready for. And while he's been getting by through fronting to be okay when he's not and pretending he's got things much more together than he really has, he's still shown to be struggling deep down with the death of his parents, his duty as a prince and his own capabilities (or lack thereof.)

Main Motivation: Living up to what he's supposed to be.

Skills: Inigo is seasoned in battle. His in-game class is Mercenary, which is a class that only fights with swords and has fairly balanced stats with nothing in particular standing out. It means he's good with a sword, enough to face and often kill bandits and other warriors in battle.

Item: His mother's wedding ring.
