[ .. that might be kind of a depressing thought if you examine it for too long.
So, you know. Don't do that, Yato. Just don't think too hard about it. Inigo is kind of brushing past it too, because the last thing he wants the other to have to do here is get all pessimistic about his chances of ever getting out of this place.
Instead he smiles, almost cheekily, as he jokes: ]
But-- you have been here for such a short time, and you are already aspiring to become a god? I would call those some rather lofty ambitions! [ At least it seems to just be a friendly and light sort of poking fun at Yato, rather than actually intending to insult him. Inigo seems too cheery for the latter, leaving any sort of sneer out of the joke. ]
[Although he was stuck for ten months in the last place he was at, so really, they're not so different. Right now though, Yato's just wondering if he's on a merry-go-round of dream world-hopping, and if he is, where the hell he'll end up next. Not that he minds too terribly, he's just afraid to get separated from his friends. They make being away from home bearable.
Though the teasing makes him smile a bit sheepishly.]
Well, I already am a god, just one without his powers right now. But I would like to become one that people here can rely on, too. [He can totally understand how unbelievable it must be to most people for someone to claim to be a god. While there were several of them in Songerein, he's not sure how common his kind is here.] Though even back home I don't have the kind of abilities Vaeros has.
[Mainly his strength is cutting things, which is a touch depressing when you want to help humanity.]
He blinks at Yato. Not in total shock - after all, this isn't the first time Inigo has found himself face-to-face with someone claiming that, despite seeming entirely normal otherwise - but definitely with surprise in his wide eyes, in his slightly slack jaw. ]
But how could you be a god without having abilities similar to Vaeros'? Are strong powers like that not the sign of divinity? [ Inigo sounds genuinely curious - not like he's disbelieving Yato.
Not necessarily, anyway.
It's just that the one divine being he met back home definitely had powers that got very close to Vaeros' own, so that's where Inigo's standard for divinity is at. It makes him wonder what Yato can do, if he's a god yet can't reach that standard. ]
[He glances around a little wistfully and sighs. Oh, if only he could have flashier powers like the gods who control the elements...! Maybe then he'd get some respect.]
As for not having the same powers, it's just like with humans in a way: gods have different abilities and strengths depending on what wish we're born from. There's a goddess who was a cat on Earth before she was deified, while I used to be a war god of sorts, but now I'm on the road towards becoming a God of Fortune so I can make people happy.
[Glancing back at Inigo, he offers a small, slightly self-deprecating smile.]
I'm a pretty... minor god. Not one most people have heard of.
[ Okay, this suddenly got real confusing real fast. Inigo can follow talk about cute little animal friends, but.. all of this is quite a bit wilder, especially since it messes a little bit with the idea of the concept of divinity Inigo has had all his life. ]
But I thought everyone had heard of gods. Where I come from, everyone has heard about Naga and knows what she has done for us. She is the Divine Dragon that looks after us. [ He says it so easily - like it's natural to him. Like it's something he has heard of and believed in for all his life. ] .. not that I think your goal isn't noble, please do not misunderstand me. I just did not know where could be that many gods, and that some of them could even not be very powerful at all.
[ Inigo frowns, looking concentrated yet confused. Like he's trying really hard to grasp all of this, despite said confusion. ]
[Ah, the joy of different worlds having varying rules and societies, even among the divine. Yato doesn't blame him for being confused, as it's a bit tricky to even explain. And if one comes from a world that's based on an entirely dissimilar system, there may be very very common points.]
The bigger named gods, yeah. But those like me who were born from the wishes of just a small group of people or even just one person, our stories likely haven't spread anywhere near as far as those who've been widely worshiped for centuries. [At Inigo's apology, Yato waves a hand dismissively. No need for that!] It's fine! We can probably chalk it up to differences between where we come from. I appreciate you hearing me out, at least.
[That he means genuinely; not everyone believes his story when he tells them he's a god, especially a relatively no-name one. And without his powers, he doesn't have the means to prove it yet.]
Of course I'd hear you out! Doesn't everyone want to be heard? [ Whether that someone is a god, or just a normal human being - Inigo is pretty sure that it's an universal experience. Especially when Yato seems much more like a human than like any god Inigo knows-- but that just makes it easier to imagine the other with very human urges.
Like the human urge to want to be heard. To not be ignored. ]
In fact, though I am not entirely sure what there is that I could personally do for a god.. [ Even a less powerful one than the ones Inigo is used to. ] Please do let me know if you ever need help with anything. The least all of us can do in this place is look out for each other, and help out where needed. I wouldn't want you to feel like you need to take care of all your own problems by yourself, just because you are a god!
Yeah, they do, but that doesn't always mean people are willing to listen. [Something he's dealt with more than most, thanks to is odd family dynamics and godly nature being one that's difficult for regular humans to discern. Heaven doesn't have therapists, after all. Even if they could probably use some.] That's why it means quite a bit to me.
You'd be amazed at what humans are capable of accomplishing, even for a being like me. Being friends, offering advice, saving lives. Mortals can do all those things and more. [It seems he's speaking from personal experience judging by the knowing, warm smile on his face.] But I'll definitely keep that in mind, thanks. I've come to learn what you say is true, and that being a god especially means I shouldn't try to handle everything on my own. A burden divided is a burden lightened, right?
[ A lot of people would likely say that Yato is being very sappy right now.
Inigo isn't one of those people though, because he is very similarly sappy. None of the other's words sound all that strange to him - they're all things he himself could have said, aside from that god-like sentiment in the middle of it all. Still.. Even if Yato is kind of a strange god by the standards of Inigo's world, the words do confirm to him that he is at least a good god. Someone who cares. ]
Well, I never mind making another friend.
[ Even if it's with a god. That's wild. He'll definitely have to tell his friends back home about this one if he ever gets back there.. ]
That means they could start a forest between the two of them. One that adores other people and finds comfort in others, it'd seem. Because despite everything, Yato is definitely the sort who tends to enjoy making friends. It's not something he's had the pleasure of doing for a good portion of his life due to extenuating circumstances, so he's more than happy to make up for lost time. Nodding, he smiles brightly.]
Same here! The great thing is that there's never too little space for another friend. At least not that I've discovered yet.
[If he had his way, he'd make friends with everyone here and then some. It'd mean a peaceful world, which they all could probably use.]
Great! In that case-- Let us make this an official declaration of our friendship!
[ Nothing better to start off a friendship than dramatics, right. This is clearly the way anyone makes friends.
But Inigo seems happy enough about it, smiling as he holds out his hand towards the other guy, like he's waiting for them to shake hands on it. To shake hands on.. friendship. ]

[As a verified drama queen himself, this is the kind of showy act Yato can get behind. It's fun, okay? What more reason does anyone need, really?
Clasping Inigo's hand in his firm one, he gives them a solid shake while grinning all the while. He's made an official friend! How cool is that??]
You betcha! Here's to a long and glorious friendship!
