Yeah. I remember you. [ Inigo nods. He can understand this much be a confusing situation to the poor boy, but thankfully Gus does seem to grasp it at least a little bit..
At least that's a relief. ]
We're friends.
[ He isn't sure if that is too bold of a claim, but-- well, it's not like he can ask the usual Gus that right now, can he!! He'll just have to hope the other forgives him for being so bold in this moment later.. ]
You asked me to help teach you how to fight, so you could protect people. Since I told you that protecting people is my job. [ Inigo doesn't think it'll trigger some sort of memory within the other. It's clear this place has changed people beyond just regular amnesia.
But he does hope the information might soothe the kid a little bit, at least. ]
Friends? I did? I guess that makes sense. I mean. Back home, with the Last Men capturing hybrids. I'm not sure my slingshot would do much.
[Not against them. Or.... any real weapon. Any adult. Given Gus is a tiny kid and armed with rocks and a slingshot. Of course, he is an easy target. Of course, he would like to learn to defend himself or others if someone was offering to teach him.]
[ Phew. Okay, yeah, Gus is accepting this. It's a little worrisome when it makes Inigo realize that it means any stranger could lie to him and make him think all this, but.. at least it's working out for Inigo right now.
And if he's around Gus, then he can at least make sure that no harm comes to him, right? Not from any stranger. ]
Yes, that is exactly what you told me when you asked me to help you. You were concerned that your own way of fighting may not be quite as helpful in those situations. And since I am very much used to fighting, I did not mind offering my help to you.
[To be fair. He's eight. So of course he's got a lot to learn. Even if he is trying to be cautious and remember his father's advice. Gus is doing his best. He's just very sheltered. And trusting in spite of all the caution.]
Oh. So you were teaching me to learn how to fight?
It is, but I guess it isn't that weird if others are also not remembering. They are younger. It isn't just me. So, I'm hoping we will figure out how to fix it.
[Gus is not the only one dealing with this. And, well. At the least, for him, it isn't quite as big a difference in his age as some of the others were dealing with.]

[ He nods - encouragingly, a smile still on his face. ]
I do hope your memories will return to you soon. [ Or.. rather, his age..? Maybe..? ] It must be confusing to not really remember much, huh?
