[ The moment she latches onto his hand, Inigo makes sure to hold it so tightly - not wanting her to accidentally slip from his grasp and fall down. The fall would be bad enough by itself, but he absolutely refuses to let his friend fall into the hands of those creatures.
So there's relief in the fact that it feels like he is helping pull her up, and then when she even bothers to kick that crate, Inigo lets out an outright cheer, followed by a laugh. ]
Way to go, Zelda! You are-- as they say in other worlds, very "cool"!
[ He says it like a grandpa would say it. Like someone who has never naturally said that word, yet is trying to learn to use it.
Inigo gives her a quick friendly hug when she reaches his spot, and then he's already moving to hop down the other side, letting go of her hand so he doesn't drag her down with him. ]
[She's out of breath as Inigo hauls her up onto the roof, and can only manage a wheeze of a laugh. Being called 'cool' is a novelty - the way that word gets used by others is still a new thing to her too.
Zelda hugs Inigo back, thrilled that they have both made it this far without being 'reset'. Maybe this time, she'll escape from this cursed loop.]
I hope it takes them a while longer. They aren't exactly athletic as people go.
[Letting Inigo take the lead, Zelda follows after him, glancing over the edge before turning to drop down the wall.]
-- you know, I've been stuck with them chasing me for over an hour now. I think it's something going wrong with time.
[ Apparently he hasn't noticed anything being that off yet. The confusion doesn't make Inigo stop, since he knows it's important for them to keep on the move, to make sure that they get Zelda away from those things, but the emotion is very obviously there in his voice all the same.
Like he doesn't quite know what she means, or is slowly trying to understand it. ]
What do you mean? Are you saying they just are not giving up?
[It's only been her repeating this event. This is the first time Inigo has stumbled into it. Hopefully, his only time. Zelda keeps pace with Inigo, frustration peppering her words.]
No, I mean this exact same thing keeps happening as though it's for the first time. I appear near that doorway, the skeksis try to capture me - then it repeats. No matter what I've tried, it keeps reoccurring.
[ Technically this shouldn't be that strange for Inigo. It's not like it's the first time he's encountered time shenanigans in general, after all. But the whole thing back home was one thing, and this is-- ]
What?
[ The only reason he's still moving is because he's worried about the skeksis going after her again, but his facial expression and body language look absolutely baffled in this moment. ]
That's-- [ He shakes his head, trying to shake off his confusion enough to really think about this. ] Do you think they are the ones doing this to you? That they have some sort of power that is making this happen?
[ Because that is real concerning. It means Inigo has to try even harder to keep his friend out of those things' hands. ]
[She's sympathetic, really. If she hadn't been experiencing it herself she'd think it was ludicrous too. Even if she has her own history of time-travel, it was never anything like this.]
From what I know about the skeksi, I doubt it. I haven't seen them use any magic when it happens.
[It would be simpler if that was what's happening.]
[ It's probably good to know, right? Inigo figured that if it were the skeksis, he could just run back and fight them in order to let Zelda escape from whatever this is.
But if he doesn't know the cause - or rather, the source - then he has no clue what to do about this. ]
.. Vaeros? [ He suggests - but carefully, because the answer is a little awkward. It's not like Inigo can just run off and go fight Vaeros, as much as he'd like to.. ]
[She comes to a halt, looking back at Inigo with a question in her eyes.]
I haven't run into anyone else yet, but even if I had, who's to say you aren't special? You helped me escape from them, just like you've helped me in the past. I think that's special.
[ His mouth opens and closes for a moment without saying anything - almost making him look like a goldfish that was suddenly thrown out of its bowl. ]
Anyone would do that. [ Okay, maybe not anyone. Inigo knows that there are people in the world who just suck, who are plain cruel for no reason.
But he knows more people would do it. Especially in this place, where most people seem pretty decent. ]
If anyone else spotted you before I did, I am absolutely certain they would have done the same thing. Who would ever leave you alone in a situation like that?
[She merely shrugs. Sure, plenty of others would help. Some probably wouldn't, based on what she's seen in the world. However...]
The point is, you are the one here, the one who didn't leave me alone. It doesn't really matter what anyone else would do. You're the one who has done it.
It's apparently difficult for Inigo to counter such a fact like that. He ducks his head a little, one of his hands reaching up to awkwardly rub the back of his head.
There's a definite blush on his face. ]
It seems you are fairly determined to give me a compliment here, huh? [ No escape, Inigo. ]

Come on, before they recover from that!

Maybe your being here this time has changed something.

Me?
[ He does seem to be considering the thought, but it doesn't take too long before the young man is already shaking his head. ]
Surely that can't be it. You must have come across other people already while trying to flee those things, right? And I am certainly nothing special.

wrap?
I'm hardly going to take it back, so I think you'll need to accept it. Now, why don't we head out of town before we get caught up in something else?
[It would be less of a heartwarming moment if they got stuck in another loop, after all.]
yes, let's wrap it here! thank you for the thread! c:
