[ If it weren't for these strange circumstances, Inigo would have had a lot to say about the sheer speed at which Gumshoe really does demote him to an assistant.
But there's no time for that right now. There's the running, and then when they stop, Inigo finally seems to realize what's going on here too. It makes any and all thoughts about the word assistant immediately leave his mind, instead leaving the boy to blink in confusion as he slowly says: ]
Wait, isn't this.. where we were before..? I was not aware the marketplace here was shaped like some sort of loop..
[Being an assistant is like a position of honor where Gumshoe's from! He puts a lot of stock in being Edgeworth's assistant, so he naturally assumes that Inigo feels the same about being his own assistant!]
It's usually not, pal! Take note of that. Something fishy's going on here! [He frowns thoughtfully.] It's almost like being in that freaky maze... There's gotta be some way to get outta this!
Wait, but-- we are not inside the labyrinth, are we?
[ He doesn't think he ever entered there, but it has done some freaky stuff to him before! What if they just lost their memory of entering in there, and now it's pretending like they're just in town? It would sure explain the freakiness that's going on here. ]
Of course not, pal! We're in the middle of town! See?
[He gestures around him, with a confused frown.]
It doesn't look like the labyrinth to me. But it feels like it! That's the weird thing. Maybe we just gotta... figure out a certain way to go to get outta here?
Granted, that does.. involve.. figuring out where said exit is. Which Inigo usually knows around these parts, but the way they have been all turned around does make him suddenly doubt his sense of direction, hence why he doesn't immediately point it out to the other man.. ]
If there is something odd going on with this road with the stalls along it, then perhaps all we need to do is move to another road! [ It's the solution, Gumshoe!!
Or-- at least, Inigo is pretty sure it is!! It's got to be that! ]
Of course we can! ...I just don't know where it is!
[He admits with a sheepish rub of his head. But he does hear out Inigo's suggestion, and he feels good about it.]
Good thinking, pal! It's like they say: the road less traveled. [He doesn't know if there's anything more to that saying.] That's gotta be the key to getting outta here! C'mon pal, let's try it out!
[And so Gumshoe tries moving towards an adjacent road... but moments later, it all resets.]
Inigo blinks a few times, but nope, he really is standing right there again. In the same spot. In front of the same stalls. It's almost as if they won't let them go, and Inigo hops backwards - and away from the stalls - with a yelp, like they are the offending object there. They are the enemy constantly drawing them in! ]
I-It's no good! [ He says. ] It seems that we can't escape this place, so there has to be a different solution!
[ You know. A different solution. Something chill. Something they can rationally think about-- ]
[Gumshoe gives a disappointed sigh as he glances around and sees clearly that it's all reset. He was sure that would have worked! What are they supposed to do now?
He looks towards Inigo, to see if he has any ideas. Maybe a younger perspective is what's needed to solve this puzzle!
But then he actually speaks, and his suggestion catches Gumshoe off guard.]
D-destroy the stalls? But that - that just sounds crazy, pal!
[He pauses as he considers it further and strokes his chin.]
So crazy... that it just might work!! If we're stuck by these stalls, maybe they're the source of the magic. That settles it, pal. Earth magic go!!
[With that, he manipulates the ground beneath one vegetable stall, causing it to teeter over and spill produce all over the ground! The merchant cries out for his cabbages.]
[ Maybe if Inigo knew how quickly Gumshoe would be acting upon any plan he'd suggest, he would be a little more careful with suggesting it..
But that's already out of the window now, considering the man is using his power practically instantly after Inigo's suggestion. And at least the fact that Gumshoe even has these powers to begin with is a little less strange after Inigo having learned about the elemental powers sometimes granted in this place quite a while ago. ]
W-Well, that is one way to take care of it..!
[ Inigo sputters. ]
Do we now move and see if it changed anything? [ Or does Gumshoe feel like causing some more destruction. Is this the start of his corruption arc?! His villain origin story?! ]
Gumshoe does feel some guilt watching that guy's standfall apart, but at the same time, it feels oddly fun to mess things up on purpose for a change!]
Hold it, pal. [That's how Gumshoe answers Inigo, as he surveys their surroundings.] Are you sure that'll be enough? After all, if both of us are trapped, maybe we both gotta mess things up.
[He points out an adjacent pottery stand run by a wizened goblin lady.]
Come on, pal, give it a try! Just cut loose and break some stuff!
[ Inigo may be a soldier and all, but this seems like a little bit too much, even for him! Still, since Gumshoe is the one suggesting it, it's not like he's fully dismissing it right away..
Instead the young man is more just looking very confused. ]
But wouldn't they all get very upset if we did that?

Maybe we have to destroy the stalls themselves!
[ Or that. ]

It's okay, pal!! I'm sure they'll understand. Or time will turn back and they won't remember a thing!
[He nudged at the lad's shoulder.]
And you don't gotta break everything, pal. Just do your fair share! [He says with a cheery smile.]
